Curtain Call (App Store listing name: Your Curtain Call)
Last updated: 2026-07-24
Overview
Curtain Call is a local-first app. Your watch history, lists, ratings, preferences, and related tracking data are stored on your device (SQLite and on-device preferences). Curtain Call does not operate a custom backend that collects or hosts your tracking data.
Data we store on your device
This includes followed shows and movies, episode and movie watch history (including rewatches), ratings and reactions, lists, achievement progress, notification preferences, and similar app settings.
Catalog metadata you browse (titles, posters, synopses, cast, and related fields) may be cached on your device so the app works offline after content has been loaded.
Credentials and connections
API and media-server credentials you enter (for example a TMDB token when per-user API connections are enabled, or Jellyfin, Plex, Sonarr, or Radarr connection details) are stored on your device using the platform secure store where applicable. They are never included in JSON export/import backups or cloud backup snapshots.
When per-user API connections are disabled by the app configuration, Curtain Call may use a catalog credential embedded at build time solely to request public metadata from providers such as TMDB. That credential is not your personal account password and is not included in backups.
Network services you choose to use
The app requests catalog metadata from providers such as TMDB using either credentials you supply (when per-user API connections are enabled) or a build-time catalog credential (when they are not). Those requests are subject to the provider’s own privacy policy and terms.
Optional servers you configure (Jellyfin, Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, and similar) receive only the requests needed for the features you enable (for example watched-state sync or download/search actions). Traffic goes to the hosts you enter.
Where-to-watch offers may be loaded from TMDB / JustWatch for your selected region. Streaming availability data is attributed to JustWatch as required by those providers.
Cloud backup (optional)
If you enable cloud backup, a JSON snapshot of your tracking data (without credentials) is uploaded to Apple iCloud (iOS, when signed into iCloud) or a Google Drive app-data folder (Android, after Google sign-in). Restore merges that snapshot onto your device. Cloud providers process that file under their own terms.
Notifications
Local notifications (for example episode release reminders or optional Sonarr/Radarr import alerts) are scheduled on your device. They are gated by the in-app notifications master switch and system permission.
Analytics and crash reporting
Curtain Call uses Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Remote Config to understand how the app is used, diagnose crashes, and configure non-personal feature flags (for example whether per-user API connections are shown). Collection begins when you use the app (there is no separate in-app opt-in toggle).
Analytics events may include screen names (for example home, show details, settings), product actions (for example follow, mark watched, search, import, share, Curtain Call, and settings changes), and limited non-personal context such as media type, TMDB identifiers, season/episode numbers, setting keys/values, result counts, and success/failure flags.
We do not intentionally send your watch titles as free text, search query text, emails, API tokens, server URLs, credentials, backup file contents, or similar personal or sensitive content through Analytics.
Crashlytics may collect crash stack traces, device and OS information, and limited diagnostic breadcrumbs (for example recent screen or action tags) to help fix bugs. Crash reports are processed by Google under the Firebase terms and Google’s privacy policy.
Curtain Call does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell your personal information. The app does not run a separate Curtain Call analytics backend that profiles your full watch history.
You can limit related platform advertising or analytics controls where offered by Apple or Google in system settings; uninstalling the app stops further collection from that installation.
Exports, imports, and deletion
You can export a JSON backup, import a backup (or supported TV Time GDPR export), restore from cloud backup, or reset selected categories of local data in the app’s Settings. Reset permanently deletes the selected local data on your device.
Children
Curtain Call is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). Do not use the app if you are under that age.
Changes
We may update this statement as the app evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document reflects the current version.
